Individual Therapy in Charlotte, NC

You’re Worthy of Care.

You don't have to be in crisis to deserve support. Maybe something feels off and you can't quite name it. Maybe you've been holding it together for so long that you've forgotten what it feels like not to. Maybe life has handed you something hard - a loss, a transition, a season that's taken more than you expected and you're ready to stop carrying it alone.

Whatever brought you here, I'm glad you're looking. Individual therapy is one of the most meaningful investments you can make in yourself and in the relationships and life you're building.

Something Feels Off, And You Can't Quite Name It

Most people who reach out for individual therapy aren't sure exactly what's wrong. They just know that something isn't working. Maybe you recognize yourself in some of these:

  • You feel anxious, overwhelmed, or on edge more often than not — even when things look fine on the outside.

  • You've been through something hard — a loss, a difficult birth, a diagnosis, a relationship ending — and you haven't fully processed it yet.

  • You're exhausted. Not just tired, but bone-deep weary in a way that sleep doesn't fix.

  • You keep showing up for everyone else, but there's nothing left for you.

  • You find yourself going through the motions — functioning, maybe even succeeding — but feeling disconnected from your own life.

  • You want to feel like yourself again. You're just not sure how to get there.

If any of that sounds familiar, you're in the right place. These aren't signs that something is broken in you. They're signs that you're human, and that you could use some support.

What We Work On Together

My individual therapy practice in Charlotte, NC is built around the things that bring people to therapy in real life - not just clinical categories, but lived experiences. I work with adults navigating:

  • Anxiety and worry — including high-functioning anxiety, health anxiety, and anxiety during pregnancy

  • Depression — including prenatal depression, postpartum depression, and high-functioning depression

  • Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) — postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, postpartum rage, and perinatal OCD

  • Infertility and the emotional toll of fertility treatments

  • Pregnancy loss and reproductive grief — miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, and subsequent pregnancy anxiety

  • Birth trauma and PTSD following a difficult birth experience

  • Grief and loss of all kinds

  • Life transitions — new motherhood, identity shifts, relationship changes, and the disorienting feeling of becoming someone new

  • Trauma — including childhood trauma, relational trauma, and medical trauma

  • Self-esteem, self-worth, and finding yourself again after loss or change

If what you're carrying isn't on this list, that's okay too. Reach out and we'll figure it out together.

What to Expect in Individual Therapy

I take an integrative approach to therapy, which means I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all method. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches (including CBT, Internal Family Systems, I-CBT, and narrative therapy), tailoring what we do together to who you are and what you need, not fitting you into a predetermined framework.

What's consistent across every client relationship is this: our work together is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in deep respect for your experience. You set the pace. You decide what we explore. My role is to create a space that's safe enough for you to be honest — with me and with yourself.

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I'll ask about what's brought you in, what you're hoping to feel or experience differently, and a bit about your history. You're welcome to ask me questions too. There's no pressure to share everything at once.

Session frequency is usually weekly to start, particularly if you're in an acute season of difficulty. As things stabilize, we can adjust the cadence to fit your life.

How long therapy takes varies widely depending on what you're working through. Some clients find meaningful relief in a handful of sessions. Others choose to continue longer-term. We'll talk about what feels right as we go.

I offer individual therapy sessions both in person in Charlotte, NC and online throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Missouri. Virtual therapy sessions are available via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform — so if life is busy, your commute is long, or you're simply more comfortable at home, online therapy is a fully supported option.

Common Questions About Individual Therapy

How do I know if I need individual therapy?

If you've been wondering whether therapy might help, that wondering is usually a sign worth paying attention to. You don't have to hit rock bottom to benefit from therapy. Many people come in simply feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like they want something to be different — and that's enough.

What's the difference between individual therapy and couples therapy?

Individual therapy focuses entirely on you — your experiences, your patterns, your growth. Couples therapy focuses on the relationship between two partners. I offer both individual and couples therapy and can help you think through what might be the right fit.

Do you take insurance?

No, I’ve chosen to operate as a private-pay therapist. This allows me to protect your privacy, practice with greater clinical flexibility, and offer care that’s guided by your needs, not by diagnosis requirements or session limits.

Sometimes insurance plans reimburse clients for therapy through their out-of-network benefits using superbills - I am happy to chat with you more about this if you’d like.

If therapy is completely unaffordable at this time and you need support, please check out Open Path Collective for therapists who offer reduced rates.

What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't help?

That's more common than you might think — and it often comes down to fit. The relationship between a therapist and client is one of the strongest predictors of whether therapy helps. I'd encourage you to reach out for a consultation so we can get a sense of whether working together feels right.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. I offer individual therapy both in person in Charlotte, NC and online via secure video throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Missouri. Many clients find that virtual sessions are just as meaningful as in-person — and significantly more convenient.

How long are sessions?

Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes. In some circumstances, longer sessions may be available — we can discuss what makes sense for your situation.
